Study says boiling your water can rid it of nearly all microplastics

A recent study reveals that boiling water may be a simple yet effective way to significantly reduce the presence of microplastics in drinking water

Microplastics—tiny plastic particles resulting from the breakdown of larger plastic materials—have become a widespread environmental concern, infiltrating water sources worldwide.

Consuming these particles has raised potential health concerns, including their impact on the digestive and immune systems.

The study highlights that the high temperatures achieved during boiling can break down or help remove microplastics by altering their structure.

However, while boiling can minimize the concentration of microplastics, it doesn't eliminate all harmful contaminants like heavy metals or chemical pollutants.

Experts recommend combining boiling with additional filtration methods, such as activated carbon filters, for optimal water purification.

This dual approach could enhance water quality and alleviate growing concerns about the long-term effects of microplastic ingestion.
