Snow before the full Snow Moon? Yes, it could happen in Louisville this week

Louisville, Kentucky, is bracing for a significant winter storm just before the Full Snow Moon. 

The Full Snow Moon, named for the heavy snowfall typically occurring in February, will reach its peak on Wednesday, February 12, 2025

According to the latest forecast, Louisville is expected to experience wet snow on Tuesday, February 11, with additional accumulations of 5 to 10 centimeters. 

Untreated surfaces are likely to become slippery, making travel hazardous. Temperatures will reach a high of 34°F (1°C) and a low of 31°F (0°C).

A Winter Storm Warning is currently in effect for Jefferson County, including Louisville, until 7:00 AM EST on Wednesday, February 12. 

Residents are advised to exercise caution during this period, as road conditions may be treacherous.

Following the snowfall, Wednesday is expected to be cloudy and not as cold, with areas of drizzle in the morning followed by periods of rain in the afternoon. Highs will be around 43°F (6°C), with lows near 29°F (-2°C).
