Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are heading to the franchise's fifth Super Bowl in the last six seasons, following a win over the Buffalo Bills in the AFC title game.

The Chiefs defeated the Bills 31-28 in the AFC Championship Game, helping them secure their fourth straight victory over Buffalo since drafting quarterback Josh Allen.

Mahomes apologized to Allen while deeming the Bills quarterback an "awesome dude" and "amazing competitor."

"I always feel for him, he’s a great player, an amazing competitor and an awesome dude who I respect so much," Mahomes said, per Zak Keefer. "I’m sorry it had to be us. But, you know, we compete, and someone has to win."

Allen and the Bills will now head into the offseason, while the Chiefs will attempt to be the first team in NFL history to win three straight Super Bowl titles in the modern era.
