Do you have potatoes and ground meat? My village grandmother taught me this simple dinner recipe!

Ingredients – 4-5 medium-sized potatoes – 1 lb ground meat (beef, pork, or a mix) – 1 onion, finely chopped – 2 cloves garlic, minced – Salt and pepper to taste – Olive oil or butter for cooking – Optional: herbs like thyme, rosemary, or paprika for extra flavor

Prepare the Potatoes Peel and slice the potatoes into thin rounds or cubes, depending on your preference. Parboil them for 5-7 minutes, just enough to soften them a bit but not fully cook.

Cook the Ground Meat In a large skillet, heat a little olive oil or butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic and sauté until soft and fragrant.

Combine Potatoes and Meat Once the ground meat is browned and fully cooked, add the parboiled potatoes into the skillet with the meat.

Let It Simmer Cover the skillet and lower the heat. Let everything simmer for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the potatoes are fully cooked and tender.

Optional: Add Cheese For a richer, more indulgent meal, sprinkle some shredded cheese (like cheddar or mozzarella) over the top in the last few minutes of cooking, allowing it to melt into the dish.

Serve and Enjoy Once everything is cooked and well-seasoned, serve your potato and ground meat mixture hot. It’s a filling, simple, and satisfying dinner that’s perfect for any time of year!
