6 Tips for Watering Snake Plants Correctly

Snake plants (Sansevieria) are low-maintenance, but improper watering can harm them. Follow these 6 tips to keep yours healthy!

1️⃣ Water Sparingly Snake plants store water in their leaves, so they only need watering every 2–4 weeks.

2️⃣ Check the Soil First Stick your finger 2 inches into the soil—if it’s dry, it’s time to water. If damp, wait a few more days.

3️⃣ Use the Right Watering Method Water deeply but infrequently, allowing moisture to reach the roots. Avoid misting, as it promotes rot.

4️⃣ Drainage Is Key Always use a well-draining pot with drainage holes and a cactus or succulent mix to prevent root rot.

5️⃣ Adjust for Seasons Water less in winter (every 4–6 weeks) and more in summer (every 2–3 weeks), depending on humidity.

6️⃣ Avoid Overwatering! 🚨 Yellowing leaves or mushy roots? Too much water! Let the soil dry out completely before watering again.
